Jinxed

December 7, 2008

I was talking to my friend Tori last night, bitching about how nothing interesting has happened to me in awhile. I then said, “yeah, now that I said that, just watch. I’m going to embarrass myself tomorrow!”

I bet you can see where this is going.

Another of my pseudo little sisters, Jessie, and I went to see Twilight (again). We went through the McDonald’s drivethru first, because McFlurries are good and who wants to pay $6.50 for ten measly gummy worms?

I pulled up to the first window, and she said, “$4.93, please.” I had three dollar bills and change lying all around my car, so Jessie gave me another dollar while I found enough change to make $4.90. I told the woman at the window to hold on, and that I had three pennies somewhere. As I was giving her the money I did have, I promptly dropped the coins on the ground between my window and my car. SERIOUSLY!? Who DOES that?! Me, of course. It is not cool, having to get out of your car and pick up your dropped coins as people behind you are certainly wondering who the dumbass is that dropped their money AT THE DRIVETHRU WINDOW.

Like that’s not embarrassing enough, the woman had to reopen her window and tell us that we had to move to the second window to pick up our food.

This is why we’re related

Texting conversation:

Me: “Dooce is preggo!!!!!!!”
Tori: “No fucking way.”
Me: “WAY I saw her Flickr picture and was like ‘is that….?!’ and it was totally a First Response test hahaha with 2 lines! June 14 is her DD”
Tori: “Holy fuck. Way to make band class better.”
Me: “Haha you’re welcome. :) It’s so weird I was reading her blog the other day thinking hmm I wonder if she’s pregnant cause she hasn’t been updating a lot lately and lo and behold!”
Tori: “The power on my street is out so I won’t be able to read Dooce. Grrr”
Me: “Aww!! It doesn’t say anything except the sonogram was wonderful, the due date is June 14 and she’s craving doritos.”
Tori: “Mmm doritos.”
Me: “I like the cool ranch kind.”
Tori: “I think she’d be flattered if she knew two teenagers were texting about her. Flattered or creeped out.”
Me: “HAHA that’s so my blog post for today.”
Tori: “I wish Dooce read our blogs.”

All Time Low, Every Avenue, The Maine, & Mayday Parade Concert

November 12, 2008

It was aaaaaaaamazzzzzzzzing!!

Hillary and I got to the club at like 6:30; I had planned on picking her up earlier but of course I took a nap before leaving and woke up thirty minutes after I wanted to leave. It didn’t really matter though, cause we were pretty much shuffled right in. There were a lotttt of people, but it was SO FUN.

Every Avenue went first, since they’re the least known band. I happen to love them, so I was glad they went first. =) They did “Days of the Old”, “A Story to Tell Your Friends”, “Trading Heartbeats”, “Freak Out”, “Think of You Later”, and “Where Were You?” SO GOOD.

The Maine was next, and Hillary and I are so in love with them that they were DEFINITELY the best ones there. It’s so cool how all four bands are kinda unknown, yet everyone packed into this little club knew all the words. They did “I Must Be Dreaming”, “Girls Do What They Want”, “The Way We Talk”, “We All Roll Along”, “Count ‘Em One, Two, Three”, and “Everything I Ask For”. THE BEST!

Mayday Parade came on after those two, and neither Hillary or I knew their songs… actually, I knew one, “Jamie All Over”, which they played. The rest, though, I mostly texted people, haha. Their set was LOUD, the loudest one. It was really annoying too since they’re kinda like a mini old school Hawthorne Heights so darker music than the rest.

All Time Low, the headlining band, was last. They, of course, had the cool show since it was their tour. It took forever for them to set up, but it was SO worth it! When they came on stage for their first song, “Poppin’ Champagne”, sparkly confetti and streamers came shooting off the stage. It was awesome. They also played “Coffeeshop Soundtrack”, “Six Feet Under The Stars”, “Dear Maria”, “Remembering Sunday”, and like three others I don’t have so didn’t know. The lead singer also played a song he had just written. They were the rockstars of the night by far.

All four bands played REALLY well. You know how some seem to really suck compared to on their CDs and it’s a huge disappointment? None of them were like that.

Hillary and I went skipping out into the parking garage after the show, twirling around completely deaf. Then we got lost going home. BUT IT WAS A GREAT NIGHT!

Only picture I took was of the All Time Low part:

Crown Center

November 7, 2008

opened this morning!!!! Three days ago it was 75 degrees out, and today it only got to about 45, so it was perfect weather opening day. Hillary and I got there around seven, mostly because neither of us could drag ourselves out of bed any earlier. There were already a TON of people there.

We ran into some people; the skating community is a pretty small one.

After the free skating session concluded, we went to Panera for bagels, then up on the skywalk at Crown Center that connects basically all the buildings.

Then we went exploring in Crown Center.

I needed a new winter coat, so we left Crown Center and went to the mall, where we searched high and low for an acceptable coat. The winners:

Crown Center being open is awesome. You can buy an unlimited skating pass for either $40/$60 (I can’t remember which), where you can go and skate any time you want. The rink is open every day, usually 10am to 10pm, November to March. It’s practically empty during the day, so wonderful for college students. Plus, what can beat skating outside?

WHERE’S JUICE STOP????!!!!

October 31, 2008

I had a freak out moment today.

My friend Alex and I were going to Juice Stop for lunch. We have three in town, and the one nearest my house is newest (but like five years new.) It’s in a strip mall with a bunch of other restaurants and stores.

I drove into the parking lot, hoping to park right up at the door.

I looked up, and saw Fast Lane Printing and a hair salon.

“WHAT THE HELL?! WHERE’S JUICE STOP?!?!?!??”

Alex looked at me like I was insane. He lives in Kansas City so it wasn’t like he knew.

I looked frantically around and yelled about how this town sucked, they brought in stores then took them down right as you started to like them, I had just been here two weeks ago, why wasn’t it here anymore!?!??!

I got my phone and called my friend Elena to ask her why Juice Stop left. Her voicemail had just beeped, signaling me to start talking, when I looked to my right.

“OH MY GOD THERE’S JUICE STOP! IT’S LIKE THREE STORES DOWN! IT’S NOT GONE! YAYY!!!!”

She called me back and told me I was an idiot. Which I already knew, thanks.

Roller Rink, Anyone?

October 19, 2008

I crossed off one thing from my “Things to Do Before I Die” list today.

Kate and I have ALWAYS wanted to go to Skate World, this roller rink that is on the way to our ice rink. We tried to go last week, but they had just closed. So we went today!

Okay. Have you ever been to a roller rink!? I obviously hadn’t before, so I can’t compare this experience to anything. But when we walked in, we thought, “holy shit, this place is dark and SKETCHY!!”

We were the first ones to arrive for the open skate time. To top off our nervous thoughts, the only guy at the counter handing out the skates was pale pale pale with a mohawk. I swear, it was like something out of a horror movie.

More and more people started showing up, and we were finally at ease and allowed on the rink. OMG. I haven’t rollerbladed in, uh, seven years? And have ONLY been ice skating for three. So getting myself out of ice skating habits into rollerblading habits again was hard!!!

Eventually we got into it though, and it was FUN!!!!!!! A seriously good workout man. There were at least twenty other people (mostly kids) on the rink, and the blacklights and disco balls and music were all going. It was like stepping back into the 80′s.
